AKRON HARDWARE ACQUIRES HSI

On September 16, 2011, Akron Hardware acquired Hardware Suppliers of America (HSI) based in Greeville, NC.

Akron Hardware has been in business since 1960, and a leading wholesale distributor of commercial builder’s hardware since 1978.  Known throughout the industry for being the largest wholesaler of ASSA ABLOY brands (most notably Corbin Russwin, Sargent, Yale, Norton and Rixson), Akron Hardware also carries Hager, Dorma, Kaba and ACSI brands.  HSI has partnered mainly with Ingersoll Rand in the distribution of Schlage, Von Duprin, LCN, Falcon and Dexter, but also has a significant presence with Kwikset, Baldwin and Hager.  The combination of assets and expertise of Akron Hardware and HSI provides a more complete wholesale solution to the hardware industry.

Akron Hardware will add the product lines of Schlage, LCN, Von Duprin, Falcon, Ives and Glynn Johnson from Ingersoll Rand, as well as Pemko from ASSA ABLOY to their product offering.  Akron Hardware will continue to focus on the commercial hardware industry, offering same-day shipping, product expertise and comprehensive inventory.  Their call center will remain at the headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Akron Hardware will also add a Texas Distribution Center to their existing network of Ohio, Arizona, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.  Standard ground shipping via FedEx will reach over 90% of the U.S. in two days, and over 40% of the country in one day.

HSI will remain a full service wholesale source for the Ingersoll Rand brands, including Schlage, LCN, Von Duprin, Falcon, Ives, Glynn Johnson and Dexter, as well as Kwikset, Baldwin, Hager, Norton, Rixson, HES, Securitron and Adams Rite.  HSI will continue to service both the commercial and residential wholesale markets from their call center in Greenville, NC.

HSI will continue to have five Distribution Centers throughout the U.S.  These facilities will be located in Texas, Ohio, Arizona, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.  HSI will transition from UPS to FedEx as their package carrier.  Standard ground shipping via FedEx will reach over 90% of the US in two days, and over 40% of the country in one day..
